About Us

We’re a group of four friends in Austin, Texas who really, really love Riichi Mahjong. After playing together almost every week for over a year, we realized two things: we wanted more people to fall in love with the game, and we wanted Mahjong merch that didn’t feel boring. So… we made both.

Most Mondays, you’ll find us hosting Mahjong Monday, our recurring event where we play and stream Mahjong, talk way too much about hands, and occasionally celebrate (or cope with) some truly unhinged draws. If that sounds like your kind of chaos, you can catch us on Twitch and YouTube:

Teaching Mahjong is a huge part of what we do. In March 2025, we started South Austin Riichi Mahjong (SARM), a local Mahjong club focused on teaching new players and growing the community. We host in-person teaching nights every Thursday, along with other pop-up meetups around Austin. If you’re curious about learning to play or just want to find a table, you can keep up with us here:

Mahjong Mart officially launched in the summer of 2025 as a passion project born from all of this. We wanted apparel that felt fun, comfortable, and full of inside jokes — the kind of stuff you’d actually want to wear to a game night or out in the world. Everything we design is inspired by the game we love, the hands we chase, and the table banter that keeps us coming back.

Long-term, Mahjong Mart is about more than merch. Our dream is to open a Mahjong café in Austin, and every purchase helps us move closer to that goal. Think great games, good food, cozy vibes, and plenty of chances to chase yakuman.
